My Whirlwind Two Nights in Paris

When I found out I was going to spend my first week at my new job in Norway, I knew I had to find a way to head over to Europe early. I had some time off in between my old job and the new one and wanted to take advantage! But where should I go?

Money definitely played a major part in my decision making process. At the time, I was living pay check to pay check and because my new job only pays once per month, there was going to be a lag in my income. I searched on some of my fave travel booking aps such as Expedia and Hopper and found a $200 flight to Paris!

For those of you who don’t know, Paris is my all-time favorite city. This was my third time going there, so I knew I would have to somehow make my way to a new country for a couple of days. After more flight searching, I found a $100 flight from Paris to Prague. And with that, my trip was scheduled!

I flew out on a red eye to Paris and around 5PM the next day arrived at my Airbnb. As mentioned above, I had been to Paris a couple of times before this - the first with a best friend and the second with an ex boyfriend. This was my first time going on my own! Between those two trips, I had seen all of the touristy stuff I wanted to see, so I was beyond excited to have a chill couple of days wandering this beautiful city and consuming ALL of the delicious food and wine.

My first night was spent having a delicious meal of escargot, croque madame and champagne. I then wandered the streets near my Airbnb and found a fun bar. The jet lag was a serious problem, however so I ended my night early to mentally prepare for the day ahead.

I only had one full day in Paris and I had a lot on my to do list (correction: a lot of food to eat). With a sandwich I grabbed from a cafe in hand, I walked along the Seine river to the Louvre grounds. Laying in the grass and reading in this beautiful park is one of my favorite things! From there I took a cab up to Montmarte for some shopping and a light lunch consisting of cheese. (Love a good cheese plate!) The view of Paris from Montmarte is also one of my faves. At this point it was time to head home and get ready for dinner. I had the most amazing meal at Brasserie Lipp (thanks for the recommendation Ana!). Food post to come soon!

The rest of the night is kind of a blur. I found myself at a pub packed with what looked like a bunch of 18 year old kids. From there I made my way to another bar and managed to make friends with a couple of Irish folk. We went bar hopping together and before I knew it I was walking into my door at 6AM with four hours to go before I had to leave for my flight to Prague.

To say my time in Paris was a whirlwind would be an understatement. I can’t wait to go back for round four!

Stay tuned for a recap of my time in Prague!
