That Time I Went All the Way to London to See Hamilton

In the fall of 2015, I made a mistake. I could have bought tickets to see the original cast of Hamilton on Broadway. I decided to wait and I've regretted it ever since. Shortly after, the show sold out for months and the lottery was impossible to win (I tried every day unsuccessfully). So when I heard rumblings of the show opening in London, I decided if I didn't win the NYC lottery by the time the original cast left, I would go to London to see it.

I get it. Many people probably think I'm crazy. But I was determined to see this show even if I had to cross the pond to do it. I signed up for the presale email list and waited for tickets to go on sale. In January of 2017 that day came and, with my presale code in hand, I bought three tickets (for only 90 pounds each I might add!) for the following January, hoping I'd find someone to join me on this adventure. I ended up dragging my dad and brother along for the ride.

The long weekend getaway ended up being everything I could have imagined. My dad and brother had never been to London (Andrew had never even been to Europe!) and I loved sharing my travel addiction with them! The weekend was spent exploring the city, drinking good beer, and of course, Hamilton!

After almost two and a half years of waiting, I finally saw Hamilton and the show fully lived up to the hype. The show was everything I wanted it to be and more. If you have a little spontaneity in you like me and haven't seen the show, I recommend purchasing a ticket for the West End production in London and hopping on a plane. You won't regret it! Info and tickets can be found here.

I can't wait to see it again! Now if only I can manage to get Lin-Manuel Miranda to play the lead next time... A girl can dream!
