Hope You Didn't Miss Me Too Much!

I'm backkkk!! I know, know - I've been a little MIA this summer... let me explain.

This summer has been weird... like SUPER WEIRD. There has been a lot of uncertainty in my life and as a result I've had this never ending feeling of being on edge.

The summer started off promising.. I tend to give my summers nicknames and this one I had dubbed the "summer of new beginnings". I graduated from NYU after three long years of hard and exhausting work. I had a new boyfriend that I was crazy about. What could possibly go wrong, right?

I spent most of June catching up on all of the sleep I didn't get while in grad school. When I came out of my slumber and started adjusting to having ALL of the free time, it hit me how bored I was. One of my professors told us that this would happen, but I didn't believe him. I'm not the type of person to get bored - ask any of my friends. I always jam-pack my schedule. But he was right.

And then the reality of student loans set in (I hate Sallie Mae with a passion!) and I realized I wouldn't be able to afford my monthly payments come December. My undergrad loans went into repayment in June, so my budget became very limited and it would only get worse when my graduate loans kicked in later this year. So not only was I bored, but I couldn't afford to do anything with all of my free time! I knew I needed to find a new job FAST, which has been my primary focus this summer.

And then I started thinking about the future of my blog. If I can't afford to even go out for a drink with friends, how am I supposed to afford to travel? And if I can't afford to travel, what's the point of having a blog? With the thought of not being able to continue to write about my adventures, I just haven't been inspired to write.

And then I went through a breakup... I was devastated, but turned to my amazing group of friends for support and distractions. Don't worry, I'll be fine.

However, despite all of stress and heartbreak, I did manage to have some summer fun!

So, what have I been up to?

My parents threw me a graduation party that was one for the books. Friends and family came together to celebrate and I could not be more appreciative! It's also important to note that the bartender had a very heavy pour resulting in me falling down the stairs... whoopsie!

I traveled to Houston to spend lots of quality time with family!

My friends and I drove all the way to Boston for the day to see the world premiere of Moulin Rouge!

I spent a weekend in the Hamptons celebrating a friend's 30th birthday.

I went to the Jersey Shore for a weekend to play with my nephews

On top of all of that, I spent many days at the beach, celebrated the adoption of a best friend's child, danced my ass off at the Taylor Swift concert, made new friends and reconnected with old ones.

So, what's next?

It's funny how now that this weird summer is coming to a close, everything seems to be falling into place. With only a few days left before Labor Day, I am happy to announce that I was offered a position to be the new HR Advisor at a Norwegian Bank! I am beyond excited for this new role, which will allow me to put all that I learned at NYU into use and continue to build on my experience. I also get to travel to Norway several times per year and possibly London here and there as well!

I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me and to continue to share my adventures with you all.

Until then!

xoxo - Kim
